The Perfect Weekend Getaway
Weekend getaways are great! It’s nice to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I love weekend trips because they are short, fun, and relaxing. I love how you can get away for two days and come back rejuvenated.
While enjoying a weekend trip is rewarding, planning for it can be stressful since it’s such a short trip. This blog will help you plan the perfect weekend trip.
Before booking your trip, decide why you want to go. Maybe it’s been a long time since you have been on a journey, and you want to take a quick break. Perhaps it’s been a while since you’ve seen your family, or you want to go on a girls’ trip or enjoy a romantic weekend away.
Once you know why you want to go, it’s time to decide where you want to go. Many of my memorable trips have been the ones that were just a few hours away from home. Some trips don’t require you to go to some exotic destination or spend hundreds. You can easily enjoy time away without going on an extensive trip. If you decide to go somewhere that will require you to take a flight, I suggest taking a flight that is no longer than 3 hours and nonstop.
After picking your destination, decide on your means of transportation and hotel. In my last blog, How to Plan a Trip, I talk about different ways you can do this. Once you have your hotel and transportation taken care of, research some activities you can do in your chosen destination. Because you only have two days, it’s best to pick one or two activities to do; this way, you don’t feel exhausted from the trip. Remember you are going to relax.
When it comes to packing for weekend trips, LESS IS MORE! I know us women, and I’m guilty of this myself, will overpack and convince ourselves while packing that we will need that dress or that extra pair of jeans, but chances are you won’t even wear half the outfits you are taking with you. My rule when it comes to packing for a weekend trip is I only use my weekend bag. If my bag feels heavy, I know I must take out an outfit or two.
Along with your essentials such as toiletries and chargers, pack two pairs black or blue pants and two pairs of shirts or blouses which you can alternate. Always pack comfortable shoes.
When planning weekend trips, try to keep it simple. Remember you’re going to relax and enjoy yourself, not feel more stressed out. Sometimes, the best weekend trips are the spontaneous ones, where you plan your day as the day comes.

Happy Journey!
